Two Fresh Ways To Prepare Your House For Summer

With summer on the horizon, many people across Australia are dusting off their outside furniture, taking the cover off their barbecues and thinking about new ways to make their home ready for summer. Summer in Australia means a more combined living space for the millions of Australians with backyards (and to a lesser degree for people in apartments as well) and any improvement should be geared towards getting the most out of these warm months. With that in mind, here are two ways you can improve the flow between your inside and outside living spaces.

Panel Glides

Large windows and sliding glass doors are a staple in Australian homes, but their sleek design is often let down by chunky blinds or witheringly thick curtains. These obstructions can be total eyesores, and many people get buyers remorse over them within a few months but keep them for years before making a change. Take advantage of summer this year by doing away with your ugly window coverings and consider putting in some sleek new panel glides instead. These panel glides provide a beautifully minimalist alternative to traditional blinds and are installed on tracks that mean they fold into a neat stack when not being used. They come in dozens of different colors and materials that let in different amounts of natural light when in use and can be easily hidden from view at night. Try getting some to match your interior colour design but also in colours that are earthy and go well with the combined living space aesthetic that you are going for.

Introduce Plants And Water Features Throughout Your House

A great way to blend your house's indoor and outdoor features during summer is to create a continuous feeling by having some potted plants or a water feature inside your house. Think about getting some plants that match the plants you have outside and add to the flow of the house. Also bear in mind that you should get plants that require minimal maintenance like succulents or even some cacti. Do not overload your house either, but place a few plants tastefully in the corners or on in the center of tables so they are subconsciously seen rather than overtly noticeable.  If you decide on getting a water fountain, remember to get one that is not too loud and to put it in a room where it doesn't matter if it is the main feature, like a hallway, so that it does not distract people.

In this blog, I'm hoping to answer the questions you're really asking; everything from "how do I pick a woodwork gloss colour to match my walls" from "what can I do about serious damp while I'm decorating", and much more! If you're about to renovate your home's interior design, this blog will be your one stop shop for help and advice.
